No too long ago, WTOV9 Sports mentioned on air that Wheeling was going to get a new indoor franchise started soon. Has anyone heard an word on a team name or any other good information about this?

From what I heard, the new team will be called the Wheeling Wildcats .....
If so, it is my belief that the name will limit the fan base tremenously.
The Steubenville Stampede has the same problem also.
Any pro team here locally should have "Ohio Valley" in it's name.
Neither Steubenville nor Wheeling can support a pro team on their own.
But in the "Ohio Valley", there is a multitude of sport fanantics .....
(Just my opinion)

I agree with you Bill, the Valley just can NOT support two seperate indoor franchises. Both teams had some decent local talent on them and still could not put butts in th seasts. Wheeling (Ohio Valley) ought to try to bring George Kellas back to run the team. He did a good job while he was involved with the Greyhounds. I, personally, never did see an indoor game, but, with them coming back, I will have to go see what it is all about at least one time.........

I make at least a couple of games every year, but I would like to see more LOCAL talent on the squad.
The games being played at a non-typical (football season) time of the year, really cuts into attendance. But in order for me to feel like they're "MY" team, "Ohio Valley" or other suitable area distinction, sould be part of the team name.

I have to agree with my friend Bill on this. Putting one city name on any local sports team kills the fans base. I really think that even cuts deep into the Nailers Hockey team. When we had the Ohio Valley Greyhounds, for years the attendance was pretty good. Then as Coop stated, we lost GK and the team production went down hill. From that point so did people coming to the games. This Valley loves winners and became used to it with the Greyhounds. Call it fair weather fans if you want but the truth is the truth.
